Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) & Chinese herbs
also: Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME),
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME) has been given
many different labels including
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS).
Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is
often an extremely debilitating condition. Sufferers of this
syndrome are often frustrated by the fact that
blood tests are often inconclusive in diagnosing this condition and
that some people fail to recognise the condition as a
physical one and instead interpret symptoms as having a purely
psychological basis.
Sufferers of CFS/ME who experience the persistent tiredness, painful muscles and joints,
dizziness and nausea know that the problem isn't all in the mind.
The symptoms of ME or CFS
Can be mild to severe but
all symptoms are associated with excessive
tiredness.
- Unusual headaches
- Unrefreshing sleep and disrupted sleep
patterns
- Lowered immunity
- Susceptibility to colds and flu
- Gastro-intestinal problems
- Abdominal bloating or bowel discomfort
- Aches and pains in joints and muscles
- Feeling of cotton wool in head, fuzzy
thinking
- Poor concentration and memory
- Mood swings, anxiety, irritability, feeling down

up
- Sore throat
- Tender lymph nodes in the neck or under
arms
Treatment of ME/CFS with Chinese herb concentrates
We have had years of clinical success
with treating ME/CFS. At the Kambel clinic we
believe that the high success rate depends on
individualised treatment. We specialise in the formulation of Chinese herbal formulas that are individually designed
for each patient with ME/CFS. These formulas target
the underlying causes of ME/CFS according to TCM diagnostic methods.
What can be done to help the
treatment?
While taking the Chinese herbal formulas it is
important to stick with healthy lifestyle choices
such as a 20-30 minute walk a day, a balanced and nutritious diet,
and adequate rest, and to minimise factors that slow down the healing of the immune system such as a
over exercise, over exertion, poor diet, processed foods,
inflammatory trans-fats and overheated vegetable oils, chronic stress,
artificial food colourings, preservatives and other
additives, smoking, alcohol.
